hi, I'm Selma

About KnitByKofo

I've always loved making things. Ever since I was little, I spent hours drawing, sewing and filling sketchbooks with ideas. Slowing down with a project in front of me has always been my favourite kind of quiet — a way to switch off and lose myself in something I'm working on.

My love for knitting started in school, where I saw one of my teachers knitting during class. There was something so cozy and calming about it, and I instantly felt drawn to it. Not long after, I bought my very first yarn from a local supermarket — and from that moment, I was completely obsessed.

What began as curiosity quickly turned into something I couldn't stop thinking about. Knitting gives me calm, comfort and happiness. I love everything about it — the colours, the textures, the techniques, and especially the moment a sketch finally becomes a real piece you can pull on. For me, the magic is just as much in the process as it is in the finished knit.

I love designing pieces I'd actually want to wear myself — soft, modern knits that feel both timeless and a little playful — and writing patterns that I hope leave room for others to make them their own.

KnitByKofo grew into the little corner where I get to design, knit and share — and honestly, seeing others wear something I sketched and worked out stitch by stitch is something I'll never stop being grateful for. Every message, photo, order and kind word means so much to me, and I'm so thankful to everyone who supports my small business and spends time on my patterns.

So much has changed since my very first stitches, but what pulls me back to the needles is exactly the same: making something with my own hands, and sharing it with people who feel the same way.

Love Selma

    Where it began

Started knitting at 14 years old after seeing my teacher knit during class. There was something so cozy and calming about it — and what began as curiosity quickly turned into a huge creative passion.

Reached my first big milestone — 1,000 followers. At the time, it felt completely unreal that so many people wanted to follow along on my creative journey.

Yrsa — the very first pattern

Released my very first knitting pattern, Yrsa. The pattern doesn't exist anymore today, but it will always hold a special place in my heart as the beginning of everything.

    July 2021

    A pause

Took a break from knitting and posting online when I started boarding school. Sometimes you have to step away for a little while to come back with fresh eyes.

  5. December 2024

    Back to the needles

Started knitting and sharing online again — and completely fell in love with it all over again. The creativity, the calm and the joy of making returned stronger than ever before.

    Minga — the comeback

Released my first 'real' knitting pattern, Minga — the beginning of the version of KnitByKofo that exists today. Soft, modern, and made with everything I'd learned along the way.

Reached 20,000 followers on New Year's Eve. It was one of the most emotional and surreal moments for me — something I still can't fully understand or put into words. I'll forever be grateful for every single person supporting me and being part of this journey ♡

  9. What's next?

    The story keeps going

New patterns are already on the needles — sketched, knitted and reworked stitch by stitch. I can't wait to share what's coming next. Whatever shape KnitByKofo takes from here, I'm bringing the same joy and care that started it all. Thank you for being part of every loop, knot and milestone along the way ♡
